Tuesday, June 16 Race Results

I’m sorry for the delayed posting of these results. I’ve got some good excuses so I’ll share them with you. Firstly, I led the team efforts at the 2009 USA Cycling Western Regional Development Camp and that was exhausting, but very rewarding. Secondly I crashed at Nevada City (with the M45 leaders with 3 to go) and broke my collarbone. Thanks for your patience.

July 7 with sprints every 5 laps, July 21 with sprints every 10 laps
August 4 with sprints every 5 laps, August 18 with sprints every 10 laps
Possibly some September racing if interest is high.

Brownies provided by Jen Coler!

Thank you for your continued support of this series.

Tuesday, June 2 Race Results

Women's night out!
Front row L-R: Beth, Kira, Beth
Back row L-R: Evan, Keila, Ruth, Cathy, Carole, Lisa, Beverly

Some will argue that a hotly contested match sprint is the best event to watch at the track. I’d argue that you can have more fun and learn more things by watching points racing. Fortunately I’m treated to six fun-filled points races on the first and third Tuesday of every month. Athletes working their endurance, trying to hold onto good position for the next sprint, or trying to lift the pace so that it better suits their chances of doing well, or if that lifted pace provides them (and everyone else!) with the workout that they planned. That’s part of what we see out there. We also see lots of great sprints every 5 laps or so with some riders putting out such an effort that they blow up when a rider that didn’t score uses the high speed to counter-attack the move and rides away. Add in a well attended event and the level of competition gets raised. So many possible outcomes, that’s what makes for some great points racing.

We were treated to some great racing on June 2. Hopefully you will come and join us when we race again on June 16th (sprints every 10 laps)

Thank you all for coming out to support this series.

Clif Bars and Peets Coffee certificates were awarded on the results of the 2nd race.
